Dr Andrew Sefton is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon. Andrew holds fellowships with the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS). He practises in both the Sydney and the Dubbo, Central West region. He enjoys the mix of rural and urban orthopaedics. Andrew grew up in the Central West of NSW. In both Gilgandra and Dubbo (where his parents still live), and is grateful that he is able to provide a service for this region.

Andrew enjoys all aspects of orthopaedic surgery and has a passion for getting people back to the activities they love doing. In particular, Andrew enjoys and has extensive training and experience in lower limb operations and orthopaedic trauma more generally. He is a patient-centred, thorough and compassionate surgeon.

Andrew has completed two additional sub-specialty years of training to further develop his skills. He completed a lower limb arthroplasty (joint replacement) fellowship at McMasters University in North America where he refined his skills in hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty. He also completed a trauma and arthroplasty fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney where he augmented his skills in more challenging orthopaedic traumas including pelvic reconstruction, non union, bone loss, malunion and deformity correction.

Andrew has cultivated Additional interests in robotic surgery, arthroscopy, management of sports injuries, joint preservation technology and analgesia.

Dr Andrew Sefton performs arthroscopic surgeries including cartilage and ligament reconstructions of the knee. This includes anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL reconstruction), posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (PCL reconstruction), postero-lateral corner reconstruction (PLC reconstruction), meniscus repairs and management of other cartilage injuries). He can also advise and perform joint injections such as hyaluronic acid, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and corticosteroids.
